My career in painting started when I attended an Art & Design course at Chichester College. I set up a studio from my beachside home – “Shingley Bottom” on Hayling Island and set to work for my first Open Studios in 2007.
My inspiration has come from living on the beach at Hayling Island and travelling along the many beautiful coastlines in the UK & Abroad in my motorhome which has taken me on many exciting adventures. My camera is at hand ready to record the inspirational scenes I see as I travel. so that I can sketch on my return to my studio and put paint to canvas.
During the following 10 years, I attended many exhibitions and shows such as Grand Designs, The Spring Fair in Birmingham, Artists Open Houses in Brighton, Guildford Art Society and opening my studios each year to take part in The maydaysartstrail and also The Hampshire Open Studios.
This year I have been very fortunate to obtain one of The Arches at The Hotwalls Studios in Old Portsmouth. The Hotwalls Studios brings artists and designer-makers together in an exceptional heritage location.
With this new venture and now working full time from Portsmouth, my work has been mainly commission driven which has brought exciting challenges, new ideas, and a different direction.
A huge success was a painting of The Americas Cup, which took place in Portsmouth in the summer of 2016. Although the original wasn’t a commission, during the final phase of completing the painting a gentleman asked me to customise it with the addition of his property.
I produced a print, which was in high demand, shipped worldwide and has subsequently sold out.
I have met some super people at my new studios and if you haven’t had a chance to visit me yet, I would love to see you there.
