Product description
The first HMS Queen Elizabeth Carrier first graced out shores in August 2017. We were there on the beach at The hotwalls cheering her in at 5am in the morning with many other onlookers. The atmosphere was jubilant and many crowd’s watched her gracefully sail in along the seafront at Southsea past Southsea Castle, and through the very narrow entrance of Portsmouth Harbour. The channel had to be dredged to ensure her safe passage and she could only come in at very high tides.
This was such a momentous occasion and one that needed marking with a painting. I wanted to take the angle from Southsea Seafront encapsulating the Southsea Castle and Iconic Bandstand.
At the Hotwalls there were many crowds cheering so this was also depicted in my painting.
