Arches

So this infamous Arch that led through to the beach in the High Street of  Old Portsmouth held a great deal of interest for me.

During my 7 years at The Hotwalls Studios I would often take a photograph through this space. A snapshot in time but always so different. Somedays blustery, somedays the sea was right up to the arch, other days you would see people walking across it and the boats on the sea would pass by.

Never the same scene. My humorous side wanted to paint just one of the large P&O Ferries or Brittany Ferries passing by with just the words BRIT showing or part of the ships name MALO… but thought better of it and painted a “regular” beach scene with all the comings and goings of ships and hovercrafts and the far reaching views of the Isle of Wight and the Church at Ryde in the Isle of Wight.
