Moonlight Memories - Hayling Island

Inspiration

This beautiful muted tone painting  was inspired during lockdown in 2020. 

We were allowed to leave our homes to excercise and at the time my niece was staying with me. We headed off for a bike ride along the seafront and we paused for a moment. The sky had that wonderful atmospheric hue of dusk, the moon was high up and the last of the clouds after sunset were still tinged with pink. 

The sky felt enormous in comparison to the beach huts in the foreground and I still get lost in that moment when I look at this piece. Sometimes the space without clutter creates the calm within my paintings.

I captured this photographically and then created this piece using acrylic paints.

Another impact piece this measures 126cm x 106cm x 6cm framed in a white wood floating frame.

Original acrylic painting with black oil pen for the outlines.

Frame is a white 19mm 'revival style. 42mm rebate moulding. Subtle grain pattern
